Tom Cruise most powerful celebrity: would you want his endorsement?

The apparently ‘unconquerable’ Tom Cruise is the world’s most powerful celebrity according to Forbes. But I think they’re mixing up power with earnings. Google Trends reckons people were most interested in him in 2005, when someone was making fun of his beliefs or Lauren Bacall was calling him vulgar.

The same survey sees Julia Roberts drop out of the league table. But others take a different view: ‘When Julia Roberts got up in congress to speak about the rare neurological disorder Rhett syndrome, powerful lawmakers paid attention.’

Tom Cruise is good to his fans and all that, but if you’ve a serious point to make, you might look for a celebrity endorsement with a little more gravitas.
