Tabloids still hooked on paparazzi photos
While the Daily Mirror has been forced to back down on the use of paparazzi photos of Prince William’s girlfriend, the apparently more upmarket Daily Mail is still trying to push up sales with images of Prince Harry’s latest in her bikini.
The market for unauthorised photos of celebrities is as strong as ever despite the News International’s apparent ban. And this will always be the case. A photo that tells a story or satisfies that deep urge to peer into the lives of celebrity sells newspapers and so has a real value.
These photos come from paparazzi picture agency Splash and having been taken from a distance with a telephoto lens, the quality isn’t good. Which is probably good news for the of accidental camera phone pap who just happens across a footballer misbehaving in a nightclub. Outfits like Scoopt can have the grainy images sold before the hangover’s worn off.
