Email & comments
Please feel free to comment on posts to this blog, but bear the following in mind:

  • you do not need to supply an email address to post a comment;
  • if you wish to remain anonymous don’t supply an email address, but remember that each time you post a comment your IP address is logged;
  • comments are usually published immediately, but I don’t have to publish comments if I don’t want to; I can delete or edit them if I wish without giving a reason; I can use filters to stop certain people from posting comments or to stop people saying certain things; it’s up to me;
  • if your comment does not appear immediately, it has most likely been mistaken for spam; I hate it when that happens; please email me if it happens to you;
  • if you do supply an email address with your comment it will not be published, but I will assume it’s okay for me to email you; and
  • I will never publish your e-mail address without your permission.

Anonomity
Your anonymity cannot be guaranteed. I use a number of third parties to collect statistics on those who visit. They may use cookies to tell who’s visiting for the first time and who’s been here before. Learn more about cookies here. The closest these services usually get to identifying individual users is the name of the Internet Service Provider (ISP) and the town nearest to the user in which that ISP has a Point-of-Presence (PoP). Sometimes the name of an employer or other organisation appears as the ISP.

Your ISP (or employer if you are using their equipment) could use your IP address to identify you. While it’s unlikely they’d share your identify with me, you should consult their privacy policy (or employee internet usage policy) to learn more.

Advertisers
A number of organisations advertise on the blog. Some pay simply to have their advertisement displayed here, some pay each time a visitor clicks on their advertisement and some pay only when a reader clicks on their advertisement and goes on to make a purchase.

To enable this process visitors’ behaviour is tracked by the advertiser or their agent. Neither advertisers nor their agents share information with me that could identify individuals.

Included amongst these tools is Google’s DoubleClick DART cookie. Google, as a third party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. The DART cookie enables it to serve ads to users using information about their visit to this site and other sites on the internet. You may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network privacy policy.
