PR Business… a bit puffy

PR Business first issueThe UK’s public relations industry has got a new weekly magazine, PR Business, to rival PR Week. And first impressions, sad to say, are that it’s a bit dry and puffy.

It’s not the most inviting of designs and the lead story’s a bit of a yawn; Geronimo Communications, public sector specialists with offices everywhere, has won a juicy new account with one of the public sector’s leading human resources organisations. And if you get through that; turn to page four to read all about how Geronimo Communications, public sector specialists with offices everywhere, has just appointed a new managing director. I nearly binned it.

To be fair, it gets better. There are decent enough features on PR bunnies, why it’s hard to recruit to more senior positions in public relations (despite the hundreds thousands of young hopefuls at entry level) and the demise of Spin Bunny. There’s even a proper news story (that should have been the lead) in the sale of media monitoring company, Durrants, for £82m.

Will I keep reading? Well, of course, it’s free.
