Inigo Wilson suspended by Orange

Inigo Wilson is the currently suspended community affairs manager for Orange, the mobile phone operator. He says lefties believe ‘anyone who objects to having their transport blown up on the way to work’ is Islamophobic. Which is rather silly at best. There’s been some effective lobbying to get him sacked. His supporters have hit back jokingly, threatening Orange with the Women’s Institute.

His main job is to persuade people to accept mobile phone masts near their homes. That is to say he’s charged with consulting local communities on behalf of Orange. But what is a consultation? Well Inigo Wilson says it’s ‘a formal system for ignoring public views while patronising them at the same time’ and that community leaders are unelected people ‘plucked from obscurity’.

Oh dear. As Stuart Bruce points out, not much point turning up to one of his public meetings. And having devastated any credibility he may have had as an honest party to any consultation, Orange would do well to pay Inigo Wilson off quietly.

That isn’t his view of consultations, that’s a lefty’s view, according to his lexicon. The very fact that a definition appears in his lexicon means that Wilson disagrees with it.
