Clinton forgets British press at her peril

US presidential hopeful Hilary Clinton’s decision to treat foreign press as second class is reminiscent of George Bush’s blocking access to his website from outside the USA in 2004. And in both cases the decision-makers are most likely trying to ensure resources are most effectively targeted.

But these moves fail to recognise that today’s media is global. Britain’s Daily Mail and Guardian newspapers are the sixth and seventh most popular titles in the USA amongst online readers.

The Mail is unlikely to give Hilary Clinton a sympathetic hearing whatever she does, but the Guardian is likely to be well read among Democrats participating in the current round of primary elections.
