Time to add RSS to your site… the geek newswire’s come of age
It looks like it’s the ads what won it. Reuters is to offer RSS feeds via FeedBurner, the same service used here. Used mainly by bloggers, Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is a great way to unclog an inbox of e-mail newsletters – subscribe to a feed instead – and means content can be easily republished in a variety of forms.
The problem’s been that while most bloggers are happy to give it all away, those who make a living out of their intellectual property have been slower coming forward. Many are still struggling to find workable business models for ordinary websites and so are far from ready to confront yet another challenge. FeedBurner Ad Network is the one of the first to market with a solution to that: yet more advertising. Pulling a big name like Reuters is a major coup that will give FeedBurner significant credibility, something it will need if it’s to fend off the impending challenge from Google AdSense.
